Lisa R. Redington
Alaskan Artist
For as long as she could remember, her grandparents Joe and Violet's vintage fishing boat has laid anchor on the Knik Flats in clear view of the homestead where she spent most of her childhood. She began drawing at the age of 9, when she was a teenager she dreamed of being an artist. In 1999, she started painting with oil paints. It wasn't until 2001, at the age of 29 that she would walk out on the Knik Goose Bay Road and photograph the Nomad and start making her dream a reality by painting her first Nomad painting. After she completed her painting the "Nomad", the painting was well received, leading her to the decision to release it as a print. Since then, she has painted 3 other different scenes of the Nomad, including the "Winter Nomad", "Summer Nomad", and "Before the Restoration". She includes a brief history of the boat with each Nomad print she releases.
